Hannes, a native of South Africa, brings food, basic medical supplies, and the gospel to the poor and dying. While based in the Nkomasi District in Mpumalanga, South Africa, Hannes travels around to communities in South Africa, Mozambique, and Swaziland, visiting those affected by HIV. Hannes is partnered with Thembalethu Home Based Care, which puts Hannes in contact with the very poor and desperately sick in various communities. Hannes also works with local clinics and governmental Departments of Health and Social Welfare.

 

All Saints took its first mission trip to Africa in 2004. Since then, Africa has been a place we’ve often returned to. Besides visiting the McReynolds when they lived in South Africa, mission trips to Africa have usually included visiting Hannes. When we visit Hannes, we labor alongside him, seek to encourage him, and try to digest the sad realities of poverty and sickness.
